If you don't know what to get for a young kid's birthday, buy them tickets to a fun science museum.
It'll make for a fun family day that's better than toys.
We have a membership to all of the kid's museum's around here ... totally worth it.
We have 3 around our house that we go to regularly.
A good portion have these available:
run after school programs.
develop curriculum materials.
provide school outreach.
The largest children’s museum is The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (Indiana), which has a total of 433,000 square feet.
The oldest children’s museum is the Brooklyn Children’s Museum (New York), which opened in 1899.
We drove from Chicago to go to the Indianapolis Museum.
It was cool; but, I don't know if I'd do it again just because there's already so many museums, in and around Chicago, that I don't have to drive 4 hours to get to.
In 1975 there were approximately 38 children’s museums in the United States.
Eighty new children’s museums opened between 1976 and 1990.
Since 1990, an additional 125 have opened.
There are about 70 children’s museums in the planning phase.
